My Hunger

This body was your home, my sweet girl. Did you hear the blood run through my veins? My heart beat? Did you hear the rhythm of my innermost me? This body was your home, my sweet girl. I made you as comfortable as I could. I fed you through the umbilical cord. Carried you with me. Rocked you to sleep with every step.

With my voice I gave you sounds to eat and drink.

This body is mine again, my sweet girl. We cut the umbilical cord. You and I continued separately, yet together. Now, only I can hear the music inside me. Look at me. My guitar. My trumpet. My piano. They translate the music that lives in me. With them I keep feeding you with sounds. Through them, my hunger to create is inexhaustible. My sweet girl.

There was a time that I seemed to have lost my hunger. There was a time that I couldn’t hear my music anymore.

There was a time that I thought the fire was out. There was a time that I didn’t know that the hunger would last. Always. It will last forever. Do you hear the music? Do you hear my voice? Do you hear my heartbeat?
